Singer Shamita Malnad asks Bengalureans to visit Gandhi Shilp Bazaar
Bengalureans got a chance to meet artisans and buy some of the best and unique handicrafts at the Gandhi Shilp Bazaar Exhibition which is being held in the city. Speaking on the occasion, Well-known Singer Shamita Malnad said, “I am very happy to be part of this programme. I want to invite every Bengalurean to visit this expo and support them. Many of the artisans have been hit hard due to the pandemic and this is the time to support them. I request people to come with their families and buy the products and encourage these artisans.”
The Gandhi Shilp Bazaar Exhibition cum sale is being held White Houzz Convention Hall (next to BDA complex), HSR Layout sixth sector. The exhibition is organised by the Karnataka State Handicrafts Development Corporation Limited. The exhibition features special craftsmanship, elegant paintings, textiles, jewellery and many more.
Speaking on the occasion, IFS officer Smitha Bijur said, “I hail from Jagdalpur area in Chhattisgarh and I am happy to meet so many artisans. In fact, I am passionate about collecting artefacts. I have so many artefacts at home that there is no more space. Yet, I want to buy more and encourage our artisans. I want to share the fact that these traditional artefacts have a great demand in a city like Bengaluru. Many of the handloom weavers are now directly connecting to the apartment complexes and trying to sell the produce without middlemen.“
The entry to the exhibition is completely free to the public and will go on till December 27.
