“Gandhi Shilp Bazar” a National Level Exhibition cum sale on Handicrafts | Day 2

Well-known actress Ms Samyukta Hornad visited the Gandhi Shilp Bazaar Exhibition and interacted with the artisans who had come from different places to present and sell their exhibits. The Gandhi Shilp Bazaar Exhibition cum sale was inaugurated at White Houzz Convention Hall (next to BDA complex), HSR Layout sixth sector on Saturday. The exhibition is organised by the Karnataka State Handicrafts Development Corporation Limited. The exhibition features special craftsmanship, elegant paintings, textiles, jewellery and many more.

Artisans are unifying the country with their rare and unique craft work

The Gandhi Shilp Bazaar Exhibition which is being held in the city continued to attract customers from across the city. Bengalureans got a chance to meet artisans and buy some of the best and unique handicrafts. Speaking on the occasion, IAS officer Ms Tulasi Madineni said, “This is not just an exhibition but a true Bharat Darshan. I feel that these artisans are unifying our country. A few years ago, we didn’t know that so many varieties exist. Today, thanks to these expos, we are seeing so many varieties. In fact, handicrafts are the gateway to understanding diverse cultures. I feel that this is a true gift from our ancestors and these artisans are not just continuing this art but also preserving it for the future generations as well. From our end, I can assure you that the government will help you in taking this forward.”

The exhibition is organised by the Karnataka State Handicrafts Development Corporation Limited. The exhibition features special craftsmanship, elegant paintings, textiles, jewellery and many more.

Speaking on the occasion, Karnataka State Handicrafts Development Corporation Limited Managing Director D Roopa Moudgil said, “This is one of its kind exhibitions where one can see a variety of handicrafts under one roof. More than 100 artisans from across the country are participating in this programme. To encourage them, we have waived off the rent, power and water charges and also provided DA and TA to them. I request more and more customers to visit the exhibition and encourage the artisans. This expo is a perfect example of how women artisans are empowered and leading from the front. I understand that there are many challenges like lack of raw materials. We have been publicising this to encourage more and more people to attend the expo. I also want artisans to learn marketing and the art of selling.” Meanwhile, IPS officer Srinath Joshi said, “It is happy to note such exhibitions are being organised. In fact, this is a great platform for the artisans across the country to showcase their exhibits. We should protect these great art and encourage them.”

Dr Shruthi gowda ,(Celebrity and Mrs India 2017 )was also present.

The entry to the exhibition is completely free to the public and will go on till December 27.
